Understanding Our Chew Profile

We understand about making good choices

That's why we created the Moodwell Chew Profile.

We created a rating system that can be used as a reference, so that you can make better choices.

Disclaimer: these ratings are based off of a test set of various dogs and may not necessarily align with your dog's size, age, and chewing habits.

Three Pillars of the Chew Profile

The Rating System

Each of our products are rated with our chew profile, so that you can choose the best chew for your dog.

Durability

Durability is assessed by size class (small, medium, large), with representative breeds used as visual references for each group.

1

Soft structure that breaks down quickly with light chewing.

2

Moderate firmness that deforms readily. Limited chew duration.

3

Hard structure with balanced resistance. Gradually wears down.

4

Hard structure that requires prolonged, repetitive chewing.

5

Hard structure that requires powerful prolonged, repetitive chewing.

Odour

This one's for you! Odour is assessed based on the intensity of the chew's aroma perceived by humans during handling.

1

Barely noticeable. Similar to a faint, dry food scent.

2

Light, natural, earthy aroma when close to the chew, but not noticeable from a distance.

3

Detectable fresh meaty scent when your dog is chewing nearby.

4

Pronounced, musky aroma that can be noticeable across the room during chewing.

5

Intense, robust gamy scent that can be immediately noticeable and may persist in the space.

Mess

This attribute reflects the likelihood that a chew will release natural oils and moisture during chewing, and the potential to transfer onto household surfaces like your couch or bedding.

As with any mess, immediate attention to residual stains can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth.

1

Negligible oil or moisture release. Unlikely to leave visible marks. Wipes clean using a dry cloth.

2

Small amounts of surface oils may be present. Any transfer is light and easily removed with a damp cloth.

3

Noticeable natural oils or fine particulates during chewing. May leave light marks on fabrics. Requires simple spot cleaning.

4

Elevated oil or moisture release with visible transfer. Marks may persist without prompt cleaning and benefit from mild detergent.

5

Substantial release of oils and organic matter. Thorough cleaning required promptly.
